A: The benefits of using ULSHO are abundant. Heating equipment that runs on ULSHO produces 40 times less soot and ends up with an ash-buildup reduction of more than 90%. Existing systems can use ULSHO, so there’s no need for an upgrade, but the new fuel will keep your system running more efficiently, which keeps your costs down. From an environmental standpoint, ULSHO results in 97% fewer airborne emissions, producing less pollution in the air you breathe. These benefits apply to our customers now more than ever, as we now offer low-emission heating oil. In fact, as of Sept. 1, 2020, the State of Pennsylvania implemented a mandate lowering the sulfur standard for heating oil to 15 parts per million (ppm) — down from 500 ppm!
